Meet Emma
Person-centred counsellor for adults in Mansfield and online across the UK
BA (Hons) · MA · PGDip Counselling · MBACP
Most of the people who find their way here are used to managing. They may be the person other people rely on, the one who keeps things moving or the one who appears to be coping.
Counselling offers a different kind of space. You do not need to protect anyone else, perform competence or arrive with a tidy explanation.

“You can begin wherever you are.”
Whether you are holding everything together or barely holding on, there is space here for you.
How I work
My approach is person-centred, which means that our work begins with you rather than with a fixed programme. I will not tell you how you should feel or hurry you towards decisions you are not ready to make.
I am warm, engaged and straightforward. I listen carefully, ask questions and help you look at what is happening with greater clarity and compassion. At times that may mean sitting with something painful. At others it may mean noticing patterns, considering a different perspective or finding practical ways to make life feel more manageable.
I offer face-to-face counselling in Mansfield and online via secure Zoom, either as ongoing sessions or a single focused session. Some people want space to talk, others want practical strategies, and many want both.
You set the pace. We can talk about what you need from counselling and review our work together as we go.
Experience and training
Counselling is my second career, and what came before shapes how I sit with the people I work with. It taught me that capability and distress can coexist, often invisibly to everyone around us.
I am a BACP-registered counsellor with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and a Master’s degree in Leadership, and additional training in single-session therapy. I work within the BACP Ethical Framework and receive regular clinical supervision.

20+ years in leadership
I know first-hand the weight of responsibility, the pressure of difficult decisions, and what it takes to keep functioning when demands never let up.
Hospice counselling
Alongside my private practice, I support people affected by bereavement, serious illness and end of life, sitting with grief and circumstances that cannot simply be fixed.
Trauma-informed counselling
Additional training in trauma-informed practice, so safety, choice and trust are at the centre of how we work, and nothing is rushed.
Neurodiversity-affirming
Additional training in autism and neurodivergence. We can adapt how we work, for example with less emphasis on eye contact, more time to process, or clear, direct questions.
Make a start, get in touch
Taking the first step can feel difficult. You do not need to have everything worked out or know exactly what to say. A short message is enough to begin.
I will respond personally within 24 hours. There is no pressure to book counselling after the initial conversation.
